The Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium (R1HRDC) – Capacity Building Committee (CBC) have successfully conducted another two-day in person Training on Data Management on July 20-21, 2023 at El Cielito Hotel, Baguio City. The purpose of the training is to capacitate research committee members and researchers on the different methodologies in collecting, processing, and storing of research data. Thirty-three (33) researchers and technical review board members from the different member institutions participated the said training.
Dr. Geraldo P. Balaccua, who is currently affiliated at Pascual Laboratories, Inc., Quezon City; Manila Theological College, College of Medicine, Manila City; and a member of the Institutional Ethics Review Board of the University of Perpetual Help DALTA Medical Center, Las Piñas City, was the resource speaker. He conducted lectures on (1) Data Management in Research, (2) Ethical Considerations in Research Data Management, and (3) Data Processing, Analysis and Storage. Also, he led hands-on workshops on (1) Data Encoding and Clearing, (2) Installation of Excel Analysis Toolpak, (3) Descriptive Analysis using Microsoft Excel, (4) Analysis of Observational Studies using Microsoft Excel, (5) Analysis of Experimental Studies using Microsoft Excel, and demonstrated the analysis of data using SPSS.
The participants expressed their gratitude towards the organizers and resource speaker by giving a positive response on the event evaluation form.
