Headed by Dr. Maria Lourdes K. Otayza as the Chair, the Research Agenda Management Committee (RAMC) of the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) conducted a 2-day face-to-face Annual Strategic Planning and Meeting for the Development of NUHRA 2023-2028 on April 26-27, 2023 at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, City of Batac, Ilocos Norte. Members from the PCHRD Research and Development Management Division were also present during the event.

Different approaches were discussed to come up with an efficient and more effective strategies to develop the new edition of National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA). The crucial roles of the Local Government Units (LGUs) in the setting of research priorities were acknowledge as they will be the ones who will possibly aid the translation of future research results. With this, AIHO will ensure the participation of LGUs in the succeeding regional workshops to come and to emphasize on the invitation letters for the target participants the importance of their participation to the workshop for their perspectives to be considered in the agenda development. There was also discussion on the development of RAMC monitoring and communication plans as one of the committee’s functions is to track and evaluate the use and adoption of the NUHRA as well as implement programs and activities in support and advocacy for the research priorities set in the NUHRA.

Since the current PNHRS strategy map is more leaning toward research utilization and resource mobilization, it was agreed by the members that the RAMC Strategic Objectives will be further reviewed.

Once the regional workshops are done, the committee’s next activities is to combine the research priorities from the different regions and to conduct a national multi stakeholder workshop to finalize the NUHRA 2023-2028.
