Call for Applications: 2025 DOST- PCHRD Undergraduate Thesis Grant in Natural Products

The Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) has officially opened the second call for applications for the 2025 Undergraduate Thesis Grant in Natural Products.

This program aims to sustain a strong research culture in natural products, encouraging more undergraduate students to explore the field and contribute to building a pool of future researchers and experts. It is aligned with the Drug Discovery and Development (Tuklas Lunas) Program of DOST-PCHRD, which seeks to develop safe, effective, and affordable alternative drugs sourced from the Philippines' rich natural resources.

WHO CAN APPLY?

The call is open to third and fourth-year undergraduate students taking up:

  1. Pharmacy
  2. Chemistry
  3. Nursing
  4. Other Health and Allied Sciences

Applicants must have a thesis proposals focused on human health that utilize natural products from terrestrial or marine plants or microorganisms indigenous to the Philippines.

 

Grant and Incentives 

  • Thesis Grant: Php 75,000.00 will be awarded to two (2) to four (4) qualified proposals per region.
  • Oral Research Presentation: Upon completion, six (6) finalists will be selected to present their research at a national event organized by DOST-PCHRD.
  • Prizes for National Winners:
    • 1st Prize - Php 50,000.00
    • 2nd Prize - Php 30,000.00
    • 3rd Prize - Php 22,000.00 

 

Deadline of submission to the R1HRDC: October 31, 2025

 

HOW TO APPLY?

Interested applicants must submit the complete documentary requirements to the Regional 1 Health Research and Development Consortium (R1HRDC).
