The Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium – Ethics Review Committee (R1HRDC-ERC), in partnership with the Philippine Health Research Ethics Board (PHREB) and the Committee on Information Dissemination, Training and Advocacy (CIDTA) Region 1, successfully conducted a free online Basic Research Ethics Training (BRET) on June 10–11, 2025.

The two-day training strengthened the capacity of researchers, ethics committee members, and other stakeholders in understanding and applying ethical principles in research.

A total of 34 participants from nine (9) member agencies of R1HRDC completed the training. Representing diverse institutions across the region, they engaged in lectures, interactive discussions, and case-based learning to gain practical knowledge and skills in ensuring that research conducted within their organizations meets both scientific and ethical standards.

The successful conduct of this activity reflects the commitment of R1HRDC-ERC and CIDTA Region 1 to promote responsible research conduct, safeguard the welfare of research participants, and foster a culture of integrity in health research across Region 1.
