The Capacity Building Committee (CBC) under the Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium (R1HRDC) successfully conducted a two-day face-to-face Research Training on Data Management on May 23-24, 2024 at Paragon Hotel, Baguio City. The goal is to capacitate research committee members and researchers on the different methodologies in collecting, processing, and storing research data. This capacity building activity was attended and participated in by forty-four (44) researchers, technical review board (TRB) members, and research management committee (RMC) members from different member institutions.
The resource speaker, Dr. Geraldo P. Balaccua is a member of an Institutional Ethics Review Board of the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Perpetual Help DALTA Medical Center; an Associate Professor and Department Head of the Department of Pharmacology at the Manila Theological College, College of Medicine; and currently affiliated at Pascual Laboratories, Inc. He focused his lectures on (1) Data Management in Research, (2) Ethical Considerations in Research Data Management, and (3) Data Processing, Analysis and Storage. Likewise, he directed hands-on workshops on (1) Data Encoding and Clearing, (2) Installation of Excel Analysis Toolpak, (3) Descriptive Analysis using Microsoft Excel, (4) Analysis of Observational Studies using Microsoft Excel, (5) Analysis of Experimental Studies using Microsoft Excel, and demonstrated the analysis of data using SPSS.
The participants expressed their heartfelt appreciation to RUC-R1HRDC and the resource speaker by giving a confident response to the event and evaluation form provided.
