The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) continuously provides assistance to relevant R&D endeavors to push the development of local and appropriate technologies with socio-economic benefits for the people. This is to ensure that new knowledge and information are generated to increase productivity and ensure quality products and processes in the country.

Please be informed that the Call for Proposals for CY 2021 funding and implementation under the DOST Grant-In-Aid (GIA) Program is now open. We enjoin you to submit proposals that are aligned with the priority areas under the Harmonized National Research and Development Agenda (HNRDA) 2017-2022. We strongly encourage proposals that the forge linkage between the government, academe and the industry sector to ensure the development of demand-driven technologies and most important projects that will ensure the transfer of technologies developed from completed R&D projects funded by DOST-GIA.

For your guidance, below are deadlines for submission of proposals:

All proposals written in the prescribed DOST format should be submitted to the office of the Undersecretary for R&D on or before the given deadline. Announcement: RRC to be Moved on May 22, 2019

The 2019 R1HRDC Regional Research Conference was re-scheduled from May 16 to May 22, 2019 at same venue, Northwestern University, Airport Road, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.

The Management and the in-charge committee, Research Utilization Committee would like to express their sincerest apology for this inconvenience and hope that everyone will come and witness this one of the biggest gatherings of health advocates and researchers in the region.

Research Management Committee ON THE GO

As part of their major role, the Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium (R1HRDC) Research Management Committee conducted the Oral Presentation, Review and Evaluation of Proposals on March 21, 2019 at Eurotel Baguio City. A total of Eight (8) research proposals were reviewed during the day by five (5) technical reviewers and experts namely: Dr. Jose B. Orosa III, Dr. Edelyn Cadorna, Dr. Mayrose L. Quezon, Dr. Lori Marseli De Castro and Dr. Adriano Esguerra.

 

Prior to the oral presentation, a screening or shortlisting of the received proposals was conducted on January 24, 2019 by the technical panel of evaluators at MMMH&MC Batac City. Out of 13 proposals that were received for the 1st quarter of 2019, 6 potential papers were selected to proceed on the said oral presentation plus 2 proposals which were already on its second wave of oral presentation reflecting their compliance on the given comments and suggestions.

2019 R1HRDC HEALTH RESEARCH DISSEMINATION FORUM

The Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium – Research Utilization Committee (R1HRDC-RUC) started the year by conducting the back to back Health Research Dissemination Forum with Applied CPD Units (for Nurse only) in collaboration with the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center (ITRMC) Nursing Division and University of Northern Philippines (UNP).

 

The application of CPD Units resulted in numerous interested nurses all over the region, thus, the forum was divided into 2 (Two) Phases to accommodate the participants. With the theme “Restructuring R1HRDC Health Research Dissemination Forum towards Relevant Professional Needs, the Phase 1 which is for the Provinces of La Union and Pangasinan, was on January 26, 2019 held at DBM Conference Hall, San Fernando City La Union, which catered to more or less 160 registered nurses. While on February 9, 2019, the Phase 2 of the forum was conducted at UNP, Vigan City with the theme “Research Outputs: Inputs to Evidenced Based Nursing Practice”, which ended up accommodating almost 80 nurses from the Provinces of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur.
