The Council on Health Research for Development (COHRED), in partnership with the Philippine Department of Health and Department of Science and Technology, will host the Global Forum on Research and Innovation for Health in Manila, from 24-27 August 2015.

As world leaders shift their focus to the post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals, increased understanding of the impact of research and innovation on health is of critical importance. Scientific research and innovation has transformative effects on not only health outcomes, but also national economic growth and sustainable development.

Forum 2015 will bring together all stakeholders who play a role in making research and innovation benefit health, equity and development. Over the course of three days, Forum 2015 will use informative and interactive discussions, workshops, networking sessions and activities to allow participants to interact, inspire, and learn from one another.

Forum 2015 provides a platform where low and middle income countries take prime position in defining the global health research agenda, in presenting solutions and in creating effective partnerships for action.

INVITATION FOR NOMINATION

Keio University Medical Science Fund is now accepting nominations for the Keio Medical Science Prize 2015. Established in 1996, Keio University annually awards the Keio Medical Science Prize to recognize researchers who have made an outstanding contribution to the field of medicine or life sciences.

Keio Medical Science Prize 2015

Criteria

  • Nominee must have a breakthrough in the fields of medicine and life sciences, and/or related fields.
  • Nominee must have an outstanding contribution to basic and clinical medicine.

 

Selection

            13 selection committee members and over 60 specialists from various fields, within and outside Keio University, will select laureates through rigorous review process.

 

Eligibility

            Nominees must be currently active in their field of research, and be expected to make future contributions to the field.

 

Prize

            Each laureate receives a certificate of merit, medal and a monetary award of 10 million yen.

 

Nomination

  • Individuals are limited to one nomination each.
  • Institutions or organizations may make as many nomination as they can.
  • In case of multiple nominations, nominations are limited to One nominee per research theme.

 

Note: A nomination should be for one researcher. Keio University does not accept nominations for groups.

The Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health and Development (DOST-PCHRD) in cooperation with the Gruppo Medica, Inc. (IGM) is pleased to announce the Call for Nominations for the 2015 DOST-PCHRD Gruppo Medica Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Thesis in Herbal Medicine .

The Award is given to provide motivation for students, with the technical guidance of their faculty adviser, to view undergraduate thesis as an excellent opportunity to contribute to national interest. The award recognizes relevant and innovative research works on herbal medicine that can lead to practical and/or commercial applications.

The search is open to all undergraduate students of College of Pharmacy, Chemistry, Nursing and Arts and Sciences who have completed their thesis projects on medicinal plants in the current school year. Nominations must be made by the students’ faculty adviser using the attached prescribed nomination form. Please take note that any alteration on the nomination form is not allowed. All nominees must submit the following requirements together with nomination form: 1. one soft and hard copies of the thesis report, 2. plant authentication certification and 3. Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) certification for researches involving animals and/or Ethical clearance from an Ethics review Committee for researches involving human participants. Nominations with incomplete requirements will automatically be excluded from the list of official entries. A maximum of three (3) thesis projects are allowed per school/college.

The Gruppo Medica, Inc. will be giving a cash prize of  P 60,000 for the first prize winner (42,000 for the student, P 12,000 for the mentor and 6,000 for the school), P 40,000 for the second prize winner (28,000 for the student, P 8,000 for the mentor and 4,000 for the school) and 20,000 for the third prize winner (14,000 for the student, P4,000 for the mentor and P2,000 for the school).

Nominations should reach the consortium not later than May 22, 2015, but the consortium encourages concerned colleges/universities to submit all nominations on or before May 15, 2014 to Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium (R1HRDC) Secretariat Ms. Ana Gay D. Once again, the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) is pleased to announce the search for the Best Mentor in Health Research Award for the year 2015.

The award aims to recognize excellence in mentorship instils passion among researchers resulting to enhanced relevance and productivity in health research. It also aims to reward mentors who have built the capabilities of researchers in the health sector which led to significant advances in the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) thrusts as identified in the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA).

The search is open to all Filipino citizen actively involved in mentoring researchers/students or colleagues for at least five (5) years. Past winners cannot be nominated. Nominations can be made by heads of institutions, immediate supervisor/s, colleague/s, trainee/s, or student/advisee. Self Nomination is not allowed.

Each cluster winner (Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and NCR) will receive a cash prize of P 100,000.00 plus a plaque of recognition. The national winner will receive P 200,000.00 plus a trophy. However, there should be at least 3 endorsed nominees with complete documents in a cluster before the selection process can proceed.

The Research and Development Committee (R&D) of Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium (R1HRDC) had their meeting last October 3, 2014 at the Research Ethics Review Committee (RERC) office of Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, Batac City Ilocos Norte.

The main agenda of the meeting is to review and select the best paper among 41 submitted research proposals. The selected papers were as follows:

Project leaders of selected protocols are required to present and defend their research proposals on November 21, 2014 at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP), Vigan City Ilocos Sur. Research and Development Committee will choose the best paper and endorse to Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) for funding.
