The Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium (R1HRDC) invites all eligible undergraduate students in Region 1 to apply for the 2026 DOST-PCHRD Undergraduate Thesis Grant in Natural Products (1st Call).
This grant provides financial support to undergraduate students conducting their thesis on natural products derived from plants and microorganisms indigenous to the Philippines. The program aims to strengthen research capacity and support the Drug Discovery and Development (Tuklas Lunas) Program, which focuses on developing safe, effective, and affordable alternative medicines from local resources.
Up to four (4) qualified thesis proposals in Region 1 will be awarded funding of up to Php 75,000.00 each. Selected grantees will also have the opportunity to present their research in an Oral Research Presentation Competition upon completion of their studies.
Eligible applicants include third- and fourth-year undergraduate students from Pharmacy, Chemistry, Nursing, and other health and allied science programs with thesis proposals focused on natural products and human health. Applicants must be guided by a qualified thesis adviser with relevant expertise in natural products or related fields, who may supervise up to two (2) thesis teams or individuals.
Applicants are required to submit complete documentary requirements, including the research proposal, line-item budget, endorsement letter from their institution, and other necessary certifications and clearances depending on the nature of the study. Only applications with complete documents will be considered.

Submitted proposals will undergo screening and shortlisting by R1HRDC, after which up to four (4) entries will be endorsed to DOST-PCHRD for final evaluation. Proposals will be assessed based on relevance, technical merit, investigator capacity, and budget appropriateness.
Qualified undergraduate students in Region 1 are encouraged to apply and submit their complete requirements within the given deadline.
