The Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium – Capacity Building Committee (R1HRDC-CBC) successfully conducted a two-day training titled “AI-Powered Health Data Analysis Using Power BI and Orange Data Mining” on May 26–27, 2026, at El Cielito Hotel, Baguio City, Benguet. Dr. Thelma D. Palaoag served as the resource speaker and facilitated discussions and hands-on workshops on the use of Power BI and Orange Data Mining for data visualization, analysis, and interpretation.
Thirty-five (35) participants from R1HRDC member institutions were brought together to enhance their knowledge and capacity in utilizing artificial intelligence (AI)-powered tools for health data analysis. They were introduced to practical applications of these tools in managing and analyzing health research data to support evidence-based decision-making, and actively engaged in collaborative learning activities. The exchange of experiences and insights among them contributed to a productive learning environment and enriched discussions on the application of AI in health research.
The activity constituted the Phase 2 implementation of the Basic Research Methods Training conducted series initiated by the consortium last December 16-17, 2025, further strengthening the research and analytical capabilities of health researchers, thereby promoting the adoption of innovative technologies to improve the quality and impact of health research in Region 1.
The R1HRDC continues to prove its commitment to supporting and equipping researchers with the necessary skills and tools to address emerging health challenges and contribute to evidence-informed policies and programs.
