As a way of helping our researchers on how to accurately and appropriately analyse their research findings, the R1HRDC Capacity Building Committee spearheaded the conduct of DATA ANALYSIS Training and Workshop on September 26-28, 2018 at Hotel Veniz, Baguio City, with the aide of the very able lecturer Ophelia Mendoza, DrPH, adjunct professor from the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics, University of the Philippines, Manila.

The 3-day training evolved on the following topics:

(1) understanding the basic concepts and principles in the application of statistical tools for data analysis particularly in: computing and interpreting health indicators; describing data by means of constructing tables and graphs and applying measures of central tendency, dispersion and location; making statistical inference through estimation and hypothesis testing; and investigating relationships between variables; and

(2) Identify the most appropriate statistical tools needed for the analysis of the data and meet the objectives of the research proposals they are developing.

This training is the second phase of the series of workshops conducted on how to do a research project. The first wave which was the Basic Research Methods Course was conducted last November 2017 and the last phase which is the Training on Technical Report Writing is set early next year with a condition that the participants of the first two trainings will submit a full blown research proposal.
